Did Audie Murphy take care of his siblings?

Audie’s father walked out on the family, so Audie left school at the age of 12. Working at a combination general store, garage and gas station in Greenville. He also picked cotton and farm labored to bring money in for the family. He also used to shoot rabbits and squirrels to feed the family. His mother died when he was 16. Before her death she requested Audie and his elder sister to place their three younger siblings in an orphanage to ensure their care. After the war Audie got them out of the orphanage again, and bought a house for them to live in.
